The temperatures were set for warm last night and so it proved. 14C at 11pm meant there were good numbers of moths about. Highlight before bed was a beautiful hooktip. In 2006 there was a partial 2nd generation of this June to early August flyer. Even more strangely, 2 more arrived at the trap overnight and noted this morning.
Another strangely out of flight season creature was a yellowshell. No Herts records of this species in October.

Other moths were present in good number. 9 setaceous hebrew character, 3 brown spot pinions, 2 blair's shoulder knot as well as 2 yellow line quakers, 1 common quaker, 2 beaded chestnut, 3 barred sallow, 1 red line quaker, 2 lesser yellow underwing, 3 large yellow underwing, 1 lunar underwing and a solitary common marbled carpet.
All in all, an interesting haul.
