A 4.30am visit to the garden trap paid dividends in finding a few micros roosting on the perspex as well as the inside egg boxes. A later arrival would have meant missing the ones on the outside as they would have flown off by full sunrise.
However, on closer inspection, these all turned out to be the same species: 3 Cydia striana, a common micro at this time of the year. Likewise, with the ones inside: Notocelia cynosbatella, heart and dart and a brown rustic.
