2 nights of good moth numbers and many added to both the year list and the parish records.
Two moths in particular have been outstanding catches. Firstly, on 21st July, a stunning pink and yellow moth
Oncocera semirubella, listed as Herts extinct up until recent published records, 2006. However, I am led to believe a few have now been taken within the county. Also, still catching up with the huge haul from 20th, a leek moth,
Acrolepiopsis assectella. This moth is only the 2nd county record, so again, a really good find.
Other new moths for records were maple pug and
Lozotaeniodes formosaunus, shown here.

As is always the case at this time of the year: the moths are wearing me out. No sooner have I completed identifying the previous night's catch, then it is off to the trap to set it up again.
