Village wander.

A walk back from Stortford via Bury Green and the polo fields. Several new birds for the year list and the start of a new parish list. A treecreeper was observed in Stocking Wood whilst a flock of mixed gulls (common, herring and lesser black backed) were on the polo fields. Plenty of great spotted woodpeckers (5+) but no greens. A mistle thrush near Clintons Farm along with a yellowhammer, moorhen and mallard. Here, also, an immaculate dog fox. 3 bullfinches at Bury Green were new for the year, as were a small covey of red legged partridge. 2 kestrels were at their usual watchpoints near Field House, both shown here along with a robin on the shed roof at home. Evidence, in the form of pellets, showed a barn owl had roosted in the shed at the polo fields, but no sign of the bird.
