A dawn chorus walk yesterday at 4.30 gave up little of interest, with chiffchaff and blackcap being heard around the orchard at St. Elizabeth's. Arriving back home I was greeted by a whitethroat singing in Chapel Lane, 1st of the year in the parish.
Moth wise, the expected May moths are no more than a trickle with new for the year species being spruce carpet and red twin spot carpet whilst a muslin moth was new for me in the garden. Photos from the top:

Unfortunately the red twin spot carpet shot out of the trap before I could get a photo. Sure I'll get other opportunities to photo this common species.
