Records are there to be broken.

On 30th June I recorded 96 moths of 52 species, at the time a record for an evening trapping in the garden. However, last night was going to be a good one, warm temperatures and overcast sky. Consequently, I stayed up, potting as many as possible until 1.30am and then returned at just after 5a.m. Indeed, a high count, but it wasn't until I had identified the last moth by mid morning that I realised I had processed 102 moths of an amazing 56 species. A new all time high and one that surely is going to be hard to beat.
However, given such a good number, there were only 4 new for the year species: Udea prunalis and Notocelia uddermanniana in the micros and Vine's rustic and Brown line bright eye in the macro group.
All the other were indeed regulars, they just all turned up at once.

  1. Incredible catch Jono.
I may be able to help out with the millenium wood trapping effort, when will it be?
No that you are on the group, send the details round when you plan on going.

    Cheers
    Ben
