Westland Green

As it appeared to be a little sunny this afternoon, I popped up to Westland Green to see if there were any butterflies and insects about. A strong breeze gave me the impression I would be unlucky, but after 10 minutes, the wind dropped and the sky became cloudless. Perfect conditions. I walked through the grass to disturb moths, managing to see 2 that I could photo. A Celypha lacunana and Elachista argentella, both new for the year and the latter a new one for my parish records.
Just as I was about to leave, 2 butterflies rose and flew by. A small heath and a painted lady, both firsts for the year, so all in all, a good 45 minutes. I couldn't get close to either, so poor quality record shots below.
