This morning, 60+ moths of 22 species. Of particular interest was a clay triple lines, somewhat worn (photo 1) which is a new garden moth. New for 2012 was a rosy rustic (2.) Also, another newly emerged green carpet (3) and a light emerald(4) which is showing in good numbers at present. Numbers supplied by, as usual, 11 setaceous hebrew character, 5 green carpet, 4 burnished brass, 8 silver y, 5 lesser yellow underwing, 6 square spot rustic. Also, micros: garden pebble (Evergestis forficalis) and garden rose tortrix (Acleris variegana)
Finally, an early morning chiffchaff checking out the insects around the apples in the garden tree. Silhouette photo shown last.
