Good collection of moths

A wide variety of moths this morning, with plenty of regulars as well as some irregular visitors. The 1st centre barred sallow (photo 1) of the autumn was pleasing along with a marbled beauty (2,) feathered gothic (3) and a mint condition garden carpet (4)
Also of note; a member of the ermine family Yponomeutidae, but very tricky identifying to species, even after dissection. However, time of year and the general pattern of the spots (which in themselves can be variable) leads me to suggest Spindle ermine (Yponomeuta cagnagella)

  1. Hi Jono
    Agree on cagnagella.
It's a little early for Barred Sallow, try Centre-barred Sallow, had my first the other night.
Slim pickings recently as we go into early Autumn.
    Happy mothing.
    Ben
