Dawn Chorus Wander 06.05.12
6 of us met at the village hall for a 4.30 a.m. Wander around the parish, taking in Hadham Hall, Millfield Lane, Church End and Hoecroft Lane. Very few notable highlights but a party of 4 greylag geese alighting on Hadham Hall lagoon constituted only the 3rd parish record for this species. Around Millennium Wood numerous warblers were singing, including first willow warblers of the year akong with whitethroat, garsden warbler, blackcap and chiffchaff. A lone lesser black backed gull on the polo field looked out of place for May. The resident Hadham Hall common buzzard gave a good fly past but the rest was as expected. In all, a total of 41 species were seen and/or heard. A good total. Photos of canada geese, greylag and common buzzard. None in great light. A good walk in excellent company
