Another mid morning walk up Chapel Lane and back down the footpath that runs adjacent to Queer Wood. 2 common buzzard mewed over the wood and the resident treecreeper on the public byway was observed again. Yellowhammers called from the hedgerow and a solitary skylark called from the golf course. A peacock butterfly was witnessed and several chiffchaffs were heard. Photo shows good detail of the tail feathers of this retreating yellowhammer. Not my intended shot but a useful guide to the colouration of the tail, also showing the rufus rump.
