Suffyldes Wood mothing

Left the trap for a few hours at a new site last night. Suffyldes Wood is a small neglected coppice at TL439214 containing a few oaks, large ash and elder scrub. Plenty of dead wood on the ground giving the impression that it has not been managed since 1987 storm!
Good ground cover of dog mercury and the snowdrops were in flower. The wood is one of the highest points within the parish. To the south is a large area of arable land.
Upon returning to the trap at 9.00 I noted the temperature had dropped as the cloud cover had disappeared. Now 0C. However, 2 moths on the vanes, Diurnea fagella and dotted border plus a common Quaker roosting inside.
