Calm after the storm

After the excitement of yesterday it was a back to normal night at the trap. I planned on staying late to try for some new for year micros and remained at the trap until 1.30a.m. I returned before dawn at 5.00a.m. to empty the trap before the local robin took all the moths from the fence and perspex. Consequently, a reasonable haul of over 70 moths, made up of 22 macro sp and 19 micros, of which 2 were new for me: Caloptitia robustella, a tiny but colourful moth and an even smaller Lyonetia clerkella. 2 square spot rustics were also new for the year, taking the annual total to 111 micros and 176 macros.
Now approaching several milestones with moths: approaching the 400th moth species for the garden since June 2011, (presently on 397 sp macros and micros) and also 3000th moth for the year plus 300 moth species for the year (presently 287 species). All these totals will be passed before the end of August, I reckon.
