Moths just keep coming

2 nights of good moth numbers and many added to both the year list and the parish records.
Two moths in particular have been outstanding catches. Firstly, on 21st July, a stunning pink and yellow moth Oncocera semirubella, listed as Herts extinct up until recent published records, 2006. However, I am led to believe a few have now been taken within the county. Also, still catching up with the huge haul from 20th, a leek moth, Acrolepiopsis assectella. This moth is only the 2nd county record, so again, a really good find.
Other new moths for records were maple pug and Lozotaeniodes formosaunus, shown here.

Other new for year moths included magpie, (shown below) Herald, peppered moth, buff footman, Ypsolopha dentella, Agriphilia straminella, Swammerdamia pyrella, Blastobasis adustella and Monochroa pallustrellus

As is always the case at this time of the year: the moths are wearing me out. No sooner have I completed identifying the previous night's catch, then it is off to the trap to set it up again.
