An uneventful walk back from town along paths north of the A120. Nothing much to report apart from a few singing yellowhammers, green woodpeckers, common buzzard and a coot at Hadham Hall.
Several hares were seen in fields and also a trickle of black headed gulls northwards.
Over the next month there will be increased bird interest as summer migrants arrive. With these will be some birds passing northwards such as ring ouzel and wheatear. Overhead, an osprey is always a possibility along with a selection of waders. The first migrants to arrive on our shores are just turning up on the south coast, with a few chiffchaffs and wheatears reported this weekend. These could be passing through Hadham in the next week.
