Short local wander

A quick check around the north east of the parish gave views of the returning mute swan to the ponds east of Little Hadham. Over the last 5 years this swan, normally with mate arrives in early October and over winters. Last year they were accompanied by a single 1 year old, which disappeared with the female before the pen returned alone. This year, just the one so far.
On the telegraph wires were 40+ goldfinches and linnets. A reed bunting was seen in the local hedgerow and 3 chiffchaffs were calling. Not too much to report.
