Local wander

Returning to the village via Green Street and Cradle End yesterday in warm conditions was good for a few late birds. A singing garden warbler at Plantings Wood was a real surprise. Record sent to county recorder. Also, overhead, a migratory party of 20+ swallow also needed to be sent off. Otherwise, regular birds with green woodpeckers, a single common buzzard and two bullfinches were noted. Plenty of pheasant about, so I suspect local farmers have released them from the rearing pens for the forthcoming November shoots.
