Not many birds about, 16 species in all and nothing of note apart from a single chiffchaff and a calling whitethroat. However, butterflies were in good numbers with 100+ small whites, 100+ large whites, several green veined whites, single small heath, 20+ peacocks, 2 small tortoiseshells, 7 commas, 3 common blues (2 males) 20+ gatekeepers and 50+ meadow browns. Still searching for the first painted lady of the year as well as a small copper.
Several dragonfly species seen, with 1 hawker (presumed a migrant hawker) 2 brown hawkers, up to 8 common darters with most being seen over the River Ash opposite the Nag's Head and a solitary common blue damselfly.
