Jersey Tiger

A good selection of moths this morning, with a Jersey tiger (photos 1, 2 and 3) and a mouse moth were new additions to the garden list. Also, a waved black, 4th of the year (4) a copper underwing (5) was checked just in case it was a Svenssons (6). Finally, an angle shades in profile
The Jersey tiger is a very rare moth for Herts. Between 19th century and 2006 there was only 1 record, in 1934! A chat with Colin, the county recorder, showed that there have been a few trapped since 2006, but still rare. Coincidentally, one was trapped in Cuffley last night, so they are on the move. A moth of the south coast and channel islands, they are prone to migration and are not a resident breeders within Hertfordshire.

I just looked at your Tiger Moth, wow it's a Jersey Tiger, so very well done to you, spoke with Colin a few times today and they seem to be spreading! not had one yet myself in this Country.
    All the best.
