Hadham Hall wander

A late afternoon wander, with net, to Hadham Hall ponds and lagoon. Grey skies meant I wasn't expecting much insect catching. Howevern a brief sunny spell meant over 30 meadow browns were on the wing and several common blue damselflies. A teneral (newly emerged) specimen shown here. However, a juvenile barn owl was found, a dreadful record shot attached. Also a male yellow wagtail, linnets, chaffinches, pair of bullfinches, yellowhammer, reed bunting and 6 tufted duck were observed. In checking the flowering heads of cow parsley I found hundreds of Rhagonycha fulva and one Athous haemorrhoidalis, one of the click beetle family. Also, plenty of spotted craneflies.
