Butterfly hunt

Making the most of a sunny afternoon I headed off to Westland Green to thge usual haunt that's good for butterflies. As has been the case this year, not good numbers, but 1st marbled white photos 1 and 2) and gatekeeper for the year. Also: meadow brown, small heath, small skipper (3) 2 moth sp; cinnabar and the resident narrow bordered 5 spot burnet (photo 4)
Both burnets and the marbled whites are an annual record from this site, which has good stands of birds's foot trefoil. Also, a garden escape geranium growing wild (photo 5)
